The crew of the Cartagena based active Spanish submarine S-73, Mistral, visited Torrevieja this week, to take a tour of the popular museum of sea and salt and take a tour on board the decommissioned submarine on display, the S-61 Defín.
Torrevieja councillors Luis María Pizana and Eduardo Gil Rebollo accompanied the 60 men and women who make up the crew, along with Comandante Capitán de Corbeta, Juan Tourico, taking in a guided tour of the Albatros III patrol boat, the Pascual Flores clipper, the municipal theatre and the museum of natural history.
All of the exhibits visited, with the exception of the Pascual Flores, are open to the public to visit, offering a wealth of historic information on the importance of shipping to the city, as well as providing cultural and historic reference to what has made Torrevieja a nautical, industrial and tourist rich city on the Mediterranean coast.
